meeting Ree

Ree Drummond, that is...as if we are on a first name basis

and for those of you that DON'T know...maybe living under a rock or something?

Pioneer Woman came to Atlanta! 

 

she was just too cute and fun to talk to, just like you would imagine!  

she could be your best friend, i just know it

 

Hyacinth and Betsy were there too and i just couldn't leave them out! 

look at Hyacinth's beautiful sparkly jacket...

we were in and out of there in just over an hour!  couldn't believe it!  mom had gotten books/bracelets (to get in) earlier that day and we were "Letter D" which meant it wouldn't be too long of a wait

met some nice people and Karen who drove all the way from Alabama just to see Ree

 

we were three of the first 120 people to see her so we all got a t-shirt!

guess who else stopped by? 

 

Bakerella

she brought Ree some SWEETS (i'll give you one guess...) that had "mini pioneer woman cookbooks" on them...they were adorable!

what a fun night!

thank you mom for the early birthday present! 

 

visiting with Santa

each year we take a loan out (not really) and head to Phipps Plaza to see Santa!  they video and photograph each visit for you to keep and add to the previous years out of the goodness of their heart

you have to make an appointment

sometime at the beginning of october, at midnight

he's a pretty poplular guy!

so Sunday was our day and evidently i tend to make our appointments after holidays when everyone is returning from thanksgiving with grandma and traffic is AWFUL!

nice. 

we made it though, just in time and jackson couldn't wait to get his eyes on Santa

 

it's burry, but i caught it real quick

 

i went with a casual look this year...i exchanged a plaid shirt for his brown converse and he looked so darn cute!  

he was very nervous

he should be...

and would hardly look him in the eye.  past videos always seem to show him checking out santa's attire...except for that one where he tried to slug him.  it wasn't pretty

he used his good manners, said yes sir and no sir and "my mom forgot to put that on the list..." 

Santa told him not to worry that i could get back in touch with him later. 

phew! 

 
 

antique'n and junk'n...we went to town

two of my favorite things other than plaid, of course!

Blue Ridge has a nice little antique store where vendors set up shop and sell their stuff and i FINALLY made my way there!

a fourth of the way through the store i thought i was going to need a buggy...

 

this was a wonderful plaid sled because everyone needs a sled, just not one for $450

 

and metal stuff...EVERYWHERE i looked!

could someone please tell me what this thing is...holding the bottles?  whatever it was it was wonderful, probably expensive and NFS (not for sale)

good thing.

old doors, old shutters, chicken feeders, antique christmas stuff, new christmas stuff, metal stuff, wire stuff, barn stars, furniture, rugs, lamps and so on

all good stuff

and i left with a rug for $20

i'll be going back soon, i just know it!

now for the junk'n part of my post

for months, while looking at what seemed like too many cabins...we would pass by this place on the side of the road (actually the guy lived there...out back, in a nice house for those of you that may wonder)

i see no other name to call it but the junk place

 

see? 

jeff rolls his eyes and looks at me when we pass by a place such as this...however, i get plain giddy 

 

it's junk for sure and ALOT OF IT however you do find treasures this way

 

like these metal wash tubs with a double stand

 

it went on and on...

 

nice displays

 

and this table back in the shed which sort of scared me to go up in...i really want my mom to go back and get it, it surely can't be much? 

 

we didn't go inside the main little store...the gentleman that owned the place had to go "home" and get his Family Christmas photo taken and would be back later.  we didn't want to wait 

i wonder how long this place has been there and how long it has taken him to gather these treasures?

december daily 09

i'm hoping that it doesn't turn into a december daily 2010

as of today, this is where i'm at...

 

right on top of things, aren't i? 

i am no ali edwards

but i've actually taken my photos for day one and day two and i'm planning on printing them by the end of each week, unfortunately i do not have the luxury of a good photo printer.  mine stinks. 

i'm excited to get everything in there...and i hope to have the album put together by this weekend!  over the past month or so, jewelry orders have taken over our home and are in the way (so to speak...) of things such as scrapbooking...that one is a bit further down the list

so stay tuned and FOLLOW ME (over there, on the right)

i plan on keeping you updated! 

the woods

we had beautiful weather over the holiday weekend, nice enough to get out and see what we could see

to say that the cabin is "far away" is kind of a understatment

the locals "go to town..."

and it's not hobby lobby either

 

we are surrounded by trees, lots and lots of trees! 

 

and sticks and rocks 

 

this path runs along the creek behind the cabin...and might i just say it's an awesome place to take pictures

 

we hiked and hiked...i think at one time it was something similar to mt everest

no kidding, ask my mother

for the love of decorating...

 

this store opened a couple of weeks ago...it's less than 10 minutes away

grand opening was on a saturday

by wednesday, i had been there three times

is there really anything wrong with that?
 

thanksgiving at the cabin...party of five

we headed north wednesday afternoon (just like the rest of the surrounding cities...) to spend thanksgiving with my parents at their cabin

we had three days to do absolutely nothing and you would have thought by our luggage, that we were staying for a month

why is that?

it was just us ...and the woods (no internet or tv)

but i have lived to tell about it

 

jackson made us all napkin rings at school, i'm sure ms. babb would be proud!   

and we enjoyed a wonderful pork tenderloin around the bar and the normal 'thanksgiving' sides (except for me...because i don't really do sweet potatoes and such)

 

we did have this wonderful fruit salad stuff that was TO DIE FOR...i will get the recipe and share soon enough.  promise.

 

we now have bar stools.  amen.
